Dr B.L.Deopura

Dr. B.L.Deopura is Professor at Department of Textile Technology at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. His main area of specialization is Manmade Fibres with current interests in nanocomposites, single polymer composites and geomembranes. Prof. Deopura has done his doctorate in the area of polymer and fibre physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.  After a brief period at Shri Ram Institute for Industrial Research, Delhi, he joined IIT Delhi as a faculty in 1974. He spent about a year each at University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1979 and at US Air Force Materials Laboratory, Dayton. Ohio in 1985.He also spent about three months at University of Manchester, U.K. He has to his credit a large no of publications, conference presentations and writing of chapters in books. He is the chief editor of a recent book “Polyesters and Polyamides” published by Wood head Publications. Developments of geomembranes as water lining material are of major significance, with an impact on water savings. He was honored with G. D. Birla Award on Development of Tape Production System. He is also the coordinator of the proposed workshop on ‘Novel sheet Materials for Conservation and control of water’.
